What's the best beach to take your dog to in Los Angeles? Well, meet Alice and her rescue dog, Donovan as they tell us their story at Rosie's Dog Beach in Long Beach, California. Alice rescued Donovan from the SPCA LA. She never thought she would get a Chihuahua but she is so glad she did. Donovan loves playing with other dogs and running in the sand but he's not so fond of the water..lol. Well, if he did, she should definitely get him a doggie life jacket =) or at the least some
doggie booties for the hot sand. Donovan loves to eat Wellness Brand Dog Food She loves Wellness because Donovan has allergies and Wellness is very upfront about posting their ingredients on the packaging. Donovan also loves dog toys that are a little bigger and fun.

Since Rosie's Dog Beach is a public beach please always remember to pick up your dogs poop. We are a fan of dog bags that are bio-degradable.

By the way, on June 24th, 2018 LA county's only legal dog beach turned 17 years young. This beach area was officially renamed "Rosie's Dog Beach" on Aug. 3, 2010, to honor the life of Rosie the Bulldog, the dog who inspired this canine wonderland. It remains the only off-leash dog beach in L.A. County (10 million inhabitants). Learn more about Rosie's Dog Beach at
5000 E. Ocean Blvd. Long Beach, California 90803

That beach sounds awesome and I love the idea of going to dog friendly beaches as I love them and its just a great days adventure as such. I always take with me a canopy so that Layla has shade as we hang out there.

Jasmine loved water and could spend hours playing in water and swimming. Interestingly, she objected to larger bodies with waves. I suppose she’d get used to it over time but she preferred smaller lakes that are relatively wave-free.

I’m always happy to read about dog friendly locations, and of course that includes this beach. I love sitting and watching dogs running through the water, it’s a beautiful site. My dog Jack has no interest in the water, so he enjoys the view with me!!

Kilo hates getting his paws and body wet but loves walking by the water or beach when it is not too hot. I wish we lived in Long Beach (I grew up in Sydney Aus and love surfing, sun, beach and ocean)
